Happy Weekend!!

Now isn't this one divine!!! Thanks Mrs Plain Jane for sending me the link to Backen Gillam Architects the clever people behind the design of this house above. You were definitely right thinking I would love this house! I hope everyone has a great weekend. Just a note to the many people who have been asking me about the chair I did in Ben's Nursery - I have just left a comment in the comment section of that post explaining the details. xxAnna

Keep Them Coming

One of the best things about having a blog is the wonderful comments and recommendations I get from regular readers. One of the best parts of my day is opening up my email and finding comments left on my blog. It still gives me such a thrill.

This week I have been following up on a couple of suggestions from fellow bloggers and it has been well worth the effort.

First up Lou from Totally Innocent was astounded to find out that I had never experienced the joy that is 'Stand By Me'.

She had watched it with her boys recently and told me I just had to see it. A couple of days later I stumbled across it in K-Mart for $8.00 and knew I had to get it. That was a couple of weeks ago I it was only last night that I finally got around to watching it.

Well Lou, you'll be pleased to know that I loved it. I found it an absolutely delightful movie and can see why it enjoys such 'classic' status. The performances were spot on and it was a very poignant tale told with grace and humour. It's now on my 'must see' list for anyone else who is yet to see it.

Last night I received a message from Whitney in America who had been looking at my book list and wanted to know if I had read 'Twilight' by Stephanie Meyer. This is part of the message she left me....

"I was reading your list of books you have read and what you are reading and I have to say YOU NEED TO READ Twilight http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/twilight.html It is right up your alley. It is a teen romance . It is one of those that make you want to have that giddy, just met the perfect boy, does he notice me, should I drive by his house feeling again."

Needless to say after that introduction I literally rushed to the Sun Bookshop to see if Deb could get it in for me. Just my luck, a shipment was arriving that afternoon and she promised to call me as soon as it arrived. Apparently she is just as big a fan as Whitney and can't believe I haven't experienced the joy. At 5.45 my phone rang with the good news and I now have books 1 and 2 of the Twilight series in my hot little hands. Stay tuned for my review.... I can't wait.

So THANK YOU to Lou and Whitney and all you other bloggers and Lurkers please feel free to send me your recommendations - share the joy around.

New twigs & honey blog post :: Fluff Life by Marisa

Here is another sweet blog post on twigs & honey. I love this blog!!! The sweet, sweet lady that is the brains behind Fluff Life, Marisa, is such a delight! She'll be getting married in February of 2009, but is well on her way in terms of planning. I swear, if I ever had a long lost twin, Marisa is her! Visit her blog for great design and style tips (and some sweet tasting treats - at least visually speaking!). Thank you for the thoughtful post!

Laura Ryan Photography

I, like so many out there, am a self described pack rat. Every snippet of ribbon, length of thread, button, and broken sand dollar, I hoard because someday, I'll need it (right?). Well, as for my hair pieces, I develop these little attachments to each one and always wonder, "Did they arrive to the customer okay?" OR "I wonder what adventure it will be taken on?" Recently, I was fortunate to have a wonderfully talented photographer purchase a piece from my Etsy shop. This particular piece happened to be a personal favorite of mine and I was so tickled to see photos of its arrival to Laura Ryan Photography. Laura just so happens to be this amazing photographer (any interested brides - check her out!) and was so kind to snap a handful of photos and send them my way. I am so happy that this piece found its way into the talented hands of Laura! I know she'll take care of my hearted piece and did I mention, Laura is super sweet to boot?! Well, after seeing the twigs & honey piece so nicely cared for already, I feel the grip on my trinkets and odds and ends slightly loosening. Perhaps I shouldn't be so attached after all? I do believe that all the pieces are going to develop wonderful stories with each person who takes one home! Memories, really, to last a lifetime. Thank you Laura Ryan Photography! To all the special brides and ladies who have already or will purchase a piece, send photos when you get the chance! I'd love to see them! Thank you ahead of time.

Vintage Brass Chair

I recently acquired this little vintage brass circa 1950's Italian chair which I can't wait to restore and recover for the shop. After finally seeing this new fabric collection today which I have been waiting to see since it was released in the U.S. I am now finding it very hard to make my final decision on which one of these beautiful fabrics will be the one to make this little chair pretty again. I'll keep you posted on my decision!!

Vintage Scarf Cushions

I love these vintage Gucci scarf cushions which were available at Posh Vintage (all sold out now) however, you could recreate these using any vintage scarf. Try Ebay for vintage scarves if you want to try to make some of these gorgeous cushions yourself!

New Charlotte Moss Book

I'm looking forward to the May release of the new Charlotte Moss Book "A Flair For Living". To pre-order your copy visit the Charlotte Moss website here...I'll definately be pre-ordering a copy for my library.

twigs & honey :: by myra :: New piece in shop!

Just a shop twigs & honey announcement:

After many inquiries about when I'd be listing a new piece in my shop, I made a new one yesterday between orders and have posted it in my Etsy shop. Please check it out! I think it's absolutely darling with baby blues and yellow. It is absolutely perfect for spring (as it was inspired by a random sunny day here in Oregon - land of perpetual rain!). Please convo me if you are interested in a custom order!

New Look Update

Some new wallpaper freshly hung in our hallway at Black & Spiro last week. I'm hopeful to have some more images to show you of the new look at the shop within the next couple of weeks.

Fabrics @ Black & Spiro

If you love the fabrics in the image above and would like to see more we have the samples at Black & Spiro. It's a beautiful fabric collection and perfect for our Queensland lifestyle. Drop into the shop and ask the girls as they will be more than happy to show you through the complete range. Some of the designs are available in exterior grade!! If you live outside of Brisbane and can't get into the shop call us and we can arrange to send you some cuttings.

Loving...

I stumbled across these gorgeous pictures over at Stylebubble a couple of days ago and had to share. Famous pieces of art merged with designer handbags...mmm scary but what a clever advertising concept!! Check them all out over at Prestigium but be careful as you might just desperately need to buy something....please don't blame me!!!!

The Ivy

I thought I'd show you a few scanned (sorry about the bad quality) images of The Ivy in Sydney a new venture by Hotelier Justin Hemmes. Obviously 1950's Palm Springs is the inspiration behind the project and doesn't it look like something you may have seen before? This work is by Hecker Phelan & Guthrie a renowned architectural firm in Melbourne. I say no more except I would like to visit The Ivy very soon - it looks great and I especially love the yellow & white dining space (first pic)!!

I absolutely love this modern barn style house owned by actor Michael Keaton. The house is featured in the Feb/March issue of Western Interiors. Yet another white house to add to my ever expanding file of white houses I love!

Today I Love...

I love this vintage French butterfly tag from Etsy seller Blue Bird Lane. I think it would be gorgeous framed and hung in a cluster on a wall with lots of other bits and pieces.

The Lindt Bunny

I've been busy printing out copies of this photo I took in my local supermarket.

I figure if I stick them up in enough places I might actually get a Lindt bunny for Easter. I unsuccessfully dropped hints for a Lindt Reindeer for Christmas with no luck.

So far there is one on the fridge, above the toilet, under Surfer Boy's pillow, in his diary, and in the fridge near the beer!

Surely he will remember, instead of waiting until they have all sold out like a certain Easter in the not so distant past.
