Winter Fun

Lori has a beautiful winter layout to share today. Isn't that sled the coolest? Mostly she used the Kris Kringle collection but she snuck something in. Can you guess what it is?

Give up? Ok, we'll tell you. This gal is so creative! She actually took a border from the Spooks Halloween collection and covered the orange border with Stickles to look like icicles. Here's a close-up.

The elegant layered snowflakes fit so perfectly with this chilly snow scene! Now that January is almost over, we are kinda wishing that stuff would go away here in Utah. How about you? Anyone nice and warm at CHA?

Overpacked

I seem to have a rather persistent problem when it comes to packing a suitcase and that is I completely overpack.  Every single time I just can't help myself and the worst thing of all is that my carry-on luggage could be compared to everything 20 people would need for a 2 week holiday.  It is just ridiculous.

However, after hauling my usual 10 tonnes of so-called 'I can't live without' luggage on a 20 hour flight from Brisbane to New York a few days I ago it was quite humorous to read an article by Amanda Fortini in the New York Times this morning in which she proclaims her obsession with the overpack too.

I was comforted by the fact that she too has packing anxiety and as her friend kindly puts it - 'It's like you're traveling by ocean liner.  Will you be accompanied by a porter?'  I WISH I could be accompanied by a porter.  Usually my husband is around and has in the past helped me lug large seashells in my carry-on luggage from Hawaii and cushion covers, mirrors and a painting from LA but this time it is just me and my carry-on and let me tell you it is exhausting running for a connecting flight with 3 heavy bags.  I have vowed and declared that on our return flight next week I will only be bringing 1 bag into the cabin with me and the rest will be checked in.  It will be interesting to see how I go.

It is snowing here in New York which is quite amazing as this time last week I was swimming in our pool with Harry and Max in 30 + degrees.

Decorate for Valentine's Day!

It's almost February and Valentine's Day will be here before you know it. You don't have to spend a lot on decor to make it fun and personal. Kate has two great ideas for you.

First, aren't these Valentine's garlands beautiful? They could be hung just about anywhere!

Kate made them by cutting several circles out of papers from the With All My Heart collection. Then she folded them in half and adhered each one to half of another circle, while stringing them along.

For her next idea, Kate used paper clips to hang some of her favorite photos, love quotes, and heart accents from a wire.

The garland strung along the wire, is the perfect finishing touch, don't you agree? How do you decorate for Valentine's Day?

I like tulle.

New shades... new loves...

Peeping In.... Jen Aniston

Thanks to Architectural Digest I get to have a long awaited sticky beak into the home of one of my favourite ladies.  Jen opened her home to the magazine in March this year and I couldn't wait to see what her interior style was like...

Love

I'm not a huge jewellery fan but I love everything about this ring.  It is whimsical and that colour is amazing although I 'm betting it could inflict a fair bit of damage.  I may just have to put this on my wish list.

Matchbook

I have been a follower and admirer of Katie Armour's blog, The Neo-Traditionalist for quite sometime.  She is always coming up with the most stylish things.  So when I found out she was starting an online mag with fellow editors Jane Lilly Warren & Fallon Hogerty I was very excited.  Yesterday the girls launched Matchbook which no doubt many of you are already aware of.  I was thrilled to be included as above and I loved the interview on Rita Konig.  I think they have succeeded in creating something a little different and I can't wait to finish reading their launch issue tonight.

The girls

I am very jealous of whoever owns this room - look how many of my lucious ladies they have on their wall.  They haven't limited themselves to one artist either which I think is nice - just from the same era.

10 Things I Miss About Heath - No 3

Busy, busy...

I'm so sorry for not posting anything for so long! It has been so busy over here with so many big projects in the works. I finished two huge projects this past week and am gearing up for another one next week. I will have much more news in the next month... so many exciting things. But on a completely random note, I really like this dress and wish it was in stock in my size! Hopefully soon...

10 Things I Miss About Heath Ledger - N0 2

This week marked the anniversary of Heath's death - hard to believe he has been gone for three years now.  I have a portrait of Heath in our living room so he is never out of mind but for the next few days you will have to excuse me while I indulge in some Heath love.

Yarraville Village

Found this snap of my local 'hood'.  This is also where my store is so it is nice to think that one day, in decades to come someone might look at old photos of the Village and wonder about my shop.

Today

Today I collected together a little group of mismatched, brightly coloured fabrics for some cushions for a client's sofa.  I never tire of putting different fabric combinations together and I always try to make sure each client has a different combination so as to keep their look unique to them.  Lately I have been so inspired by fashion and the combinations of different fabrics fashion designers have been using in one outfit.  I love the way Easton Pearson mixes fabrics and incorporates beading, frilling and special details in their designs.  The top image is actually a collection of Easton Pearson dresses from 2008.  I like the colour combination used in those 4 dresses and would love to create a room scheme using this image as inspiration.

Thank You Gift

Lucky for us, we are having a blast creating fun projects for CHA with our new collections. They are so much fun to use!

That's not so lucky for you because we have been a little MIA on the blog lately. Don't you fear because Lisa has saved the day with this thank you set she made for someone who really deserved it!

Here's a detail of the pretty Moonrise card she included with the gift.

Here is the outside of the sticky note holder Lisa made.

This is the Moonrise sticky note inside.

If you are ready to make your own, Lisa explains how to do it.

"The sticky note holder measurements are- 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" then scored at 21/2", 3", 51/2",6", 71/2". Round corners and add velcro coin to close. Trim papers to same width but 1/16" smaller to take into account the score areas that you don't want covered or overlapping."

Thank you, Lisa!

Another fantastic example of how to display a collection.

Perfect

I have been searching for the perfect blue and white tiles for a wall above a bench in our kitchen and I have found them.  Patchwork blue and white tiles....could there be anything more beautiful than this?! And they have used brass taps which I love.  A huge thank you to  my blogging friend Emily for posting about these.
